Natives of America are proud to sponsor the One Spirit charity who are a service organization founded to assist and support Native Americans. At present, their focus are the Oglala Lakota in South Dakota.
Their mission is to help meet the basic needs and provide a culturally rich life for their youth. The goal of all programs is to reduce or eliminate hunger, to replace the high drop out and suicide rates among youth with an enthusiasm for learning and a pride in their Lakota heritage, and to provide protection from the winter cold that can drop to 40 below zero.
Specifically, Soul Sharp and its affiliates are supporting the End Hunger Project. A percentage of every sale of our merchandise is donated to the people of the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, where hunger and diet-related disease are epidemic. Also, the unemployment rate is around 80%. Even when people have money to buy food, fresh fruits and vegetables are often unavailable.
Currently, more than 5000 people are fed each month and there are more than 100 families waiting to get food through the food program. We are proud to be a part of this valuable campaign.
